Border Sundials of Monmouthshire is on a roll!
Capel Tenison, 45, of Border Sundials at Llanddewi Skirrid, has been producing sundials for 20 years. Border Sundials exhibited once again at the 2010 RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May. Yet again for 2010 we moved to a new location - Stand RM44 on Main Way, just off Eastern Avenue. If you entered via the Hospital Gate (turn left at 'Gold Leaf Gloves') many who visited the stand found it ideally placed as their first stopping point.
Chelsea is the year's most important flower show and always a busy week. This year's show was especially exciting. I'd spent all year planning for it, though it may only be a few days it's the most exhilarating few days of the year. We had glorious weather again for this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Everyone who visited my stand this year was very complimentary about my sundials, giving me good feedback.
This year I am called on my family's heritage by using steel in my latest designs. I am named after my famous ancestor John Capel Hanbury, MP for Monmouthshire, Ambassador to Prussia and owner of the Pontypool Steel Works. I am using South Wales steel in an imaginative new role.
I unveiled my Stainless Steel Armillary Spheres which proved to be a hit at this year's Chelsea Flower Show. I'm ecstatic about the development of this new range of unique design. I hand polish the stainless steel to a mirror-finish which will shine even in the cloudiest weather.
Lots of friends old and new dropped in to say "Hello", some to discuss a sundial project or simply "talk time and drink wine" - which is my favourite!
