A wall mounted sundial is special in every way: each one is unique in design, as a work of art and in their calibration for time keeping.
Vertical sundials are specifically made for the precise wall they will be mounted on so they can give an accurate time reading. They are unusual and will give visual interest to a large expanse of wall – in a garden, courtyard or public place – where they will give enjoyment to all.
We’ve made many vertical dials for customers over the past 20 years, marking many different occasions, from retirements to centenary celebrations and the laying of foundation stones. These celebratory dials have been made in a wide range of designs and for all kinds of locations. Our vertical dials have been commissioned by churches, clubs and associations, schools and colleges, as well as the more time conscious gardeners who want to know when they can stop clipping the borders and sit down to enjoy a well earned G&T!
As every vertical dial we make is unique it’s possible to incorporate a wide range of design using a range of materials; copper, brass, lead, enamel, stained glass, hand or sand cut slate or stone painted with 23½ carat gold leaf.
It’s a good idea to call us to discuss your project as these dials are bespoke from start to finish. If needed we can arrange a site visit so I can take measurements of your wall’s inclination and aspect to make sure your dial will tell the time accurately, as well as discussing the details to make sure your dial looks stunning when put in place. However this isn’t always practical, so, as long as I can see your house on Google Earth, I can make the calculations without visiting.
If you are interested in commissioning a vertical, or wall dial, please fill in our enquiry form with your details and we’ll call you back to discuss your sundial.
